If you picked up a copy of Assassin’s Creed for the PS3, you have my sincere condolences. Users all over the interweb have been describing a variety of issues with the game ranging from screen tearing, to low framerates and even freezing up completely. These are issues one might expect to encounter on a PC game, as you can generally blame them on bad hardware/drivers. However, on a console game, it is just unacceptable.
Ubisoft has taken the first step in solving this issue by posting a discussion topic on their forums asking for users to post their firmware versions and any additional info related to the crashes. They have assured the community that they are working on the issue, however, that is of little comfort to those whose gaming experience has been hindered by this problems.
At last count there were 36 pages full of responses from upset gamers. The issues seem to be fairly widespread, affecting users with various setups and firmware versions. Some have offered up possible fixes, none of which seem to work for everyone. With this many people reporting major issues with the game, one has to wonder how this made it past the QA team.
