Sometimes I can’t believe that some things are really as old as they are. For instance, I didn’t realize that the Sega Genesis is now 20 years old. This week Sega’s best-selling console celebrated its second full decade on the planet. Of course it wasn’t until 1991 that the console really was able to shine, as that was when our favorite blue hedgehog made his debut. A little known fact is that sonic was made to run so fast to basically show-up the Super Nintendo. For years Sega boasted that these sorts of speeds were unattainable by Nintendo’s main console of the day. Sadly, one of the great console makers of our time bowed out of the game a couple of generations later when the Dreamcast underperformed in sales.
