Netflix Streaming “Exclusively” to XBOX 360?

On Monday Microsoft issued an update to the Xbox 360 dashboard, expanding the the Xbox 360’s capabilities.  The update included new outfits and accessories to player avatars, the launching of a digital shop for formerly disc-based games, and an overhaul of the Netflix streaming service.

In the new feature list for the dashboard Microsoft has laid claim to an “Exclusive partnership” with Netflix’s streaming service.  This would lead one to think that the service will not be offered on other popular consoles in the future. Although gaming consoles are not the only way to watch the streaming service eg. nearly any pc, digital media receivers, and some Sony televisions.

As a personal user of this service through the Xbox I don’t know how I would live without it now that I have tried it.  Also when I signed up there was an amazing deal that I’m not sure is still available but I got 6 month of Netflix basic one disc at a time through the mail and the streaming video for free just for signing up.  While offering deals like that and having an “exclusive partnership” this feature is sure to weigh heavily on the decision maker as for what console to pick.
