Ninja Gaiden 3 To Be “Completely Different”

Team Ninja has stepped up to the plate and put a lot on the table with news regarding Ninja Gaiden III. Yosuke Hayashi, Tem Ninja’s studio head, explained that “Ninja Gaiden III will make you feel what it’s like to cut through someone’s bones.”

Hayashi continued to talk about how the third game will give an entire new meaning to the term “slice and dice.” Now we’re excited.

Hayashi stated in an interview with IGN:

“Ninja Gaiden I was all about cutting people and in Ninja Gaiden II it was about dismembering enemies.  In Ninja Gaiden III, you’re going to experience something new regarding the feeling of cutting people. You’ll actually feel how it feels to cut through someone; you’ll feel the bones breaking. We’re going to focus on the feeling of cutting someone more than dismembering them.”

Hayashi further explained that players will experience a sense of physical resistance when cutting through an enemy. Things won’t be so easy this time around.

“You’ll have to press buttons, things like that, to have your katana go through the bodies,” says Hayashi. “There will be force-feedback to reinforce the idea; There will be work to cutting somebody. The intention for this title is to focus on the feeling of cutting someone instead of just going through entire armies of bad guys.”

The story in the new game takes place after the second, with no details on how long past. We do know, though, that the third title will focus more on Ry Hayabusa as a human being, and dive further into his past.

The developers at Team Ninja want Ninja Gaiden III to be a game that anyone can pick up and play, without having to worry about hindrances along the way.  The team has announced that they are addressing the camera issues that plagued the first and second games as well. They want to start over from scratch, so-to-speak, and come up with a brand new experience.

Ninja Gaiden III will be shown at this year’s E3.
