Video Game Process Start To Finish In 7 Minutes

Last week there was the Global Game Jam, which was a festival that challenges its participants to make a game from scratch in two days. This video is obviously a time lapse, but there is a lot of work that happens in 48 hours.

The game in the video below was created by Cryptic Studios who made “Benny Lava” for the GGJ contest, which can be downloaded “here”. The team says it is best played as a multiplayer with two or three people, one mouse, a couple of gamepads, or a keyboard if you really want to.  The team members consist of Jimb Esser who did the programming, James Laird who helped with programming and design, and last but not least Nick Duguid doing the art.

This festival competition had 6,500 participants who created 1,500 games in 44 different countries. Now if that’s not impressive, I don’t know what is. The Global Gaming Jam is the largest game jam event that happens annually in January.  If you think you’ve got what it takes, look into next year’s events.
