
EA had quite the press conference at this year’s E3 event, though it wasn’t that extravagant. EA stated that they “don’t need celebrities or fancy sets” in their press conference. They simply had a small stage, a large screen, and developers showing exactly what they had to offer. Here are the highlights from EA’s conference.
We got to see some gameplay of Mass Effect 3, which we’ve all wanted for such a long time. The demo that was shown focused on the game’s combat system, which really amped up the action with this title. Shepard and his team members faced off against a giant Reaper, barely escaping with their lives in-tact. The best piece of knowledge we received about the game, however was the release date, which has been set for March 6, 2012.
EA also touched on a site called Origin.com, which is a service offered by the company specifically for their products. Origin is a hub where players can find videos, news, screenshots, and more on their favorite EA titles.
Need For Speed: The Run was announced, a new title which has players racing to be the first across the country. For the first time ever in the series, players will also run into action on foot. Auto Log, a new feature from EA, allows for the specific timed tracking of players, showing their stats at all times throughout the game. The gameplay is very clean, and brings a new sense of danger to the series that hasn’t been felt before.
EA showed a new trailer for The Old Republic, touching on the story that’s bringing the game together. The game pits Sith against Jedi in an all-out war for control, with each player teaming up to fight for their cause. The Sith fight to reclaim control of their once-occupied home, while the Jedi give all they’ve got to protect the territory from evil. Still no release date.
The new SSX title uses real satellite imagery to place players in pristine mountain ranges across the globe. A new trailer was revealed, showing characters boarding through crashed planes, across tundras, and through forests. The game will debut in January 2012.
FIFA 12 adds new features, such as tactical defending, precision dribbling, and the player impact engine to offer real-world aspects to a great sports title. EA also revealed the EA Football Club, a social service which will allow players to connect with each other across the globe, tracking stats and more over a large leaderboard system.
Madden 12 offers a new collision detection system, bringing a heavy focus on defense in the game of football. The game releases August 30th this year. EA is determined to bring the game closer to home, offering a brand new experience for all fans of the series.
The Sims Social brings The Sims to Facebook. It offers the Sims in a new light for Facebook, allowing players to connect with their friends, family, and loved ones across the globe. No large amount of details or features were announced as of yet.
Reckoning is a new and innovative RPG title from 38 Studios, backed by Curt Schilling. The game is set to release in 2012, and it offers open world exploration, tons of spells, and a combat system that looks extremely fun and interesting.
Insomniac Games announced Overstrike, the company’s new cross-platform title. It follows a team of four covert operatives who are the “black sheep” of their organization. With the new trailer full of action, the game is sure to be a hit among the company’s fans from all over.
Battlefield 3 gameplay was shown, along with details on the Frostbite 2 Engine, which powers the game. It will release October 25, 2011, with an open beta rolling out in September. With EA’s new service, players can keep up with their friends, create platoons, and much more, all without any extra cost. With new graphics and a brand new engine, the game looks to be one of the very toop anticipated titles of the year.
EA ended their press conference with a bang, leaving off on their most-anticipated title. With Mass effect 3 and Battlefield 3 under their belt, Electronic Arts is the company to look out for this year.
