Hideo Kojima Reveals ‘Fox Engine’

Hideo Kojima, the mastermind of Konami, revealed new technology at the company’s pre-E3 conference that he calls the “Fox Engine.” The technology is a next-generation gaming engine that is multi-platform, and it will power a brand new project that Kojima is handling himself.

No new titles were shown with the engine, however it was used to run a tech demo, showing what it could do. The demonstration showed a young boy running through a jungle resembling much that of what’s seen in Metal Gear Solid 3. There was a huge jump in detail and effects compared to what we’ve seen before with the company, which really impressed us.

The new title that Kojima is working on will be built using the Fox Engine. It will be able to run across the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 with no compatibility issues. No other information has been given as to what title is being worked on, but we know it will include Transfarring (enabling PS3 to PSP/NGP file sharing). It is also meant to keep the development time down for all new titles from Konami, and we can all dig that.
