Capcom: The RE: The Mercenaries Save Game Controversy Won’t Happen Again

This past week Capcom held an interview session in which Capcom USA VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development Christian Svensson spoke out about the issue with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Given the upheaval and just overall bad reaction caused by the game’s flawed save system, he said that there is very little chance that we would “see something like this happening again.”

Svensson also maintained that there was “never quite the malicious intent the conspiracy theorists out there would have you believe,” when speaking of the many theories suggesting that Capcom had the intent to include this game save system in order to stop pre-owned sales on the Mercenaries 3D. They claim that they wanted to provide more of an “arcade fighter” feel to the game.

Either way, it’s good that fans can now look forward to not having these issues with upcoming Capcom titles. With other Resident Evil titles underway, it’s great to know things will go back to normal. Whether it was intentional or not, it looks like Capcom has seen the error of their ways, yes?
