City of Heroes Is Now A Free-To-Play Title

Paragon’s popular super-powered MMO, City of Heroes, is now officially free-to-play for everyone. Back in June the developer originally announced that the title would be making the financial jump, and now this change has become a reality.

Players can now head to the City of Heroes website, sign up for an account, download the client, and start playing for free. A new tutorial system has been put in place to help welcome newcomers, and it’s a bright addition to the seven-year-old title.

With this new move also comes a new branding for the game. It will now be known as City of Heroes: Freedom. A major lot of the game’s core is available to players for free, though costumes, side missions, extra power-ups, and more can be purchased from within the game. Are you planning on becoming a new player to City of Heroes: Freedom, or will you be a returning player? What do you think about the game’s move to a Free-to-play title?
