League of Legends Patch Updates Co-op Vs. AI

When League of Legends added cooperative play against AI bots, it was assumed that only players who were new to the game would use it. This way they could get accustomed to the game, and then go up against other players. However, Producer Mark “DeathstrykerLaw” Norris was surprised that a number of players were using the Co-op vs. AI as their mode of choice. Not only that, but it spanned all across the board, even for players who were higher level. The challenge from AI to PvP is just so difficult that many players prefer to just play against bots.

There used to be only about 12 bots that you could play against, but with this new patch, there will be 40 of them, giving you thousands of combinations to play against. Not to mention that this is also going to hit Dominion mode. The bots have also been changed so that they understand the map a little better, have more communication between themselves so they can adjust to different scenarios, and will understand how their opponents move. This means bots like Ashe are going to start using predictive targeting for skillshots.

Bots will start to avoid the towers, and know when it’s time to back off. They will also start helping each other, slowing you down to allow their fellow champion the time to get away. Any experienced player is still going to wipe the floor with them, but they will start having things like target support and DPS instead of tanks in team fights. In Dominion mode, you might see something like one bot protecting the tower while another attacks. There will be no bot jungling, but don’t think they won’t sneak in the jungle on your side or set up a gank. However, we might see something like that in the future, so don’t get too cozy.

Riot games seems to be making all sorts of efforts to see that gamers have a chance to learn, but also make sure that they aren’t afraid to go PvP every now and then. Even if this patch seems like a big upset to the balance you have going right now, you will gain more IP, and there will no longer be daily limits on match rewards.

The following is a list of all the new and improved bots that you will now be facing when in co-op vs. AI mode. I’m pretty excited about seeing so many new faces, and think it will be rather interesting to see how the bots will function with their snazzy new knowledge.
