Amnesia Getting A Terrifying Sequel

As if the PC horror game Amnesia wasn’t terrifying enough, news has risen of a sequel that will soon release. Speaking to the site, Joystiq, Fictional Games and thechineseroom have announced their latest endeavor, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.

This new title will be a sequel to the previous, though it won’t be a direct second coming. “It’s not a direct sequel,” says Dan Pinchbeck, the writer for Dear Esther, “It doesn’t involve the same characters.” The game also will not follow the same story as the first, though it will lie in the same alternate history and universe. A Machine for Pigs is set in the year 1899, and it follows a new personality. A wealthy industrialist by the name of Oswald Mandus who has just returned to his home from what Pinchbeck calls a “disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy.”

It seems that Oswald starts to have mysterious nightmares about a dark machine coming to life. He wakes to find the machine alive and in process, which gets the game started on its plot. More details are sure to come about the game, but our gears are already cranking. Props to Joystiq for gathering the word, and positively scaring us all.
