Its always nice to see a game that has its own artistic flare, but seldom do you see a game that mimics classical art. It appears as though a two-man team called Alientrap has announced a new project named Apotheon. This game is set in a world that looks as though it is classical Greek pottery.
Having an open world packed with action and stealth, this 2D sci-fi sidescroller is sure to make for an enjoyable time. There is a singleplayer campaign that will have you gaining divine powers and fighting deadly enemies along the path to the top of Mount Olympus. This also includes some online multiplayer battles that use period specific weapons of spears and arrows.
Even though only two screenshots have been released for this game, I’m already pretty excited about it, even if it’s just for the aesthetic. This will be a PC game, so if you were hoping that it would be headed to console, think again. To get an idea of what the storyline will be like, here is your mission:
The corrupted gods of the natural world are at war with themselves, their actions and rivalries mirrored as elemental disasters of apocalyptic scale upon the face of the earth. Humanity battles for survival in the unrelenting maelstrom, their prayers for respite falling on deaf ears. As mankind’s last champion, you have been chosen to travel to the spirit realm and infiltrate the of the city of the gods. Sneak, shoot, steal, and assassinate your way through the massive dystopian labyrinths as you climb towards godhood. Only by stripping the old gods of their powers, and taking control of the elements as your own can humanity hope to survive the coming oblivion.
