The Simpsons: Arcade Game On PSN Tomorrow

There has been a long wait for this game to come out, but the arcade version of the Simpsons will finally be hitting the PlayStation Network tomorrow. Gracie Films and Fox made sure that the release of this game would be alongside the 500th episode of The Simpsons so fans can have a way to celebrate this milestone in the series. It has been adapted for the PS3, and although it sticks to its roots, there is some sweet bonus content to be had.

It looks as though they were trying to keep with the original arcade version, but seeing as the quarter-crunching element has been removed, there needed to be some additions. Different gameplay modes will hopefully keep things interesting without detracting too much from its humble origins. There is a Freeplay mode that will give you “unlimited continues”, and two “Quarters” modes that will give you a set amount of credits up front. One of the quarter modes has players using the same pool of credits, while the other gives each player an individual amount. The other option that is available is Survival mode, which only gives you one life through the entire game. The challenge is on!

There will also be leaderboards, achievements, and unlockable bonus content to keep you on your toes. If you do decide to play through the Freeplay mode, keep an eye out for some of the inside jokes that the original programmers put in back in 1991. Get ready for the 500th episode, and celebrate with the re-release of this comical game.
