Assassin’s Creed III Character Art Leaked [Rumor]

There’s been a lot of discussion about who the next star of Assassin’s Creed will be, and where it will take place. While rumors are easily spread with no credible source, we might just have one that we can put some stock in. Why? Just have a gander at the picture above (click for the full image).

Yes, pictures can be faked, and it’s possible that this is just the work of an extremely talented fan. If that’s the case, then Ubisoft might just consider hiring the artist. The photo comes courtesy of a Best Buy employee, who sent it into Kotaku. It came along with one that mentioned Ubisoft would be announcing the next game on March 5th, and that it would be up for pre-order at that time. What lends more credibility was that Game Informer accidentally uploaded a banner which depicts the same character crossing the Delaware with George Washington (see below). It was quickly grabbed by someone on the NeoGaf forums before it was taken down.

So assuming for a moment that this is indeed legit, we can gather a few things about the game. First, there is a Betsy Ross 13-star American flag, which narrows down the time frame significantly. This particular flag was in use from roughly 1776 (some might say 1777, but I’ll leave the debates about that to historians) to 1795 , which gives us about 20 years to work with. Likely we can narrow it down to between 1776 and 1783, as it would make more sense to place the game during the Revolutionary War.

We can gather some facts about our lead character from the image as well. The dark complexion, along with the arrows, tomahawk, necklace, leggings, and moccasins all point toward the character being of Native American blood. We could assume that the person is only half Native American, in order for them to still be related to Desmond.

I guess the real question is just how interesting an Assassin’s Creed game is going to be, set during the American Revolution. Don’t get me wrong, I love my American history, but I just don’t know if colonial Boston (or any of the other colonial cities) is going to be as exciting for this type of gameplay. I guess we’ll have to wait for the unveiling to really be sure. One thing I do know is that I’d wear the shit out of that coat.
