First Earth

There are some games that build up excitement because of their production value. However, when it comes to Indie games, you oftentimes get excited for things that you don’t see. This is certainly the case with First Earth, which is an upcoming game that has an open world design inspired from Ultima Online.

Obviously you’ll be able to explore the world, but the description says you will also be able to look into your own values, produce resources, pursue a profession, own property, reinvent technology, make a town, etc. You also have the option of going at this by yourself, or cooperatively with other players.

This is certainly an ambitious project, but I can’t help but feel as though it reminds me of a less blocky version of Minecraft from the video. Although, the video doesn’t show anything of the town, or technology I was expecting to see, so that could be why. Ah well. The invite-only Alpha-testing will being this month, and the open beta will follow shortly after.
