Stephen Fry Stands Up For EA

Despite the fact that EA was named the worst company in America last week by voters, they did something that most sane people would consider to be not evil: they stood up for the LGBT community be refusing to bow to pressure by anti-LGBT groups and remove the gay and lesbian relationship options from some of its latest games, including Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. This has not gone unnoticed by famous gay comedian/actor/good guy Stephen Fry.

Though he quipped that EA was not first at portraying gay and lesbian characters in a non-stereotyped light, referencing his portrayal of the “joyously bisexual character called Reaver in versions 2 and 3 of Fable”, he did come out and called upon his followers on Twitter to go ahead and sign a petition to let EA know that they have their support “against anti gay hate”.

In all, this is looking to be a great start of the week for EA, since even though they may have lost a few fans because of the LGBT content they know that they have the support of an entire community now. If you want to help support EA in standing up for the rights of everybody, you can sign Mr. Fry’s petition here.
