Final Fantasy VII Makes An Updated Return To PC According To Leak

If there’s one thing fans in the gaming community have been fighting for throughout the longer stretch of the past few years it would be for a remake, or updated re-release, of Final Fantasy VII. We’ve already seen a sweet mod for the PC version of the game that can help make things look a little better in HD, but it’s still not a full-on re-release. A leaked Google cache has revealed a new domain that’s been set up that hints towards a planned updated PC release for the game.

The domain finalfantasyviipc.com has shown up via Google and it details an updated release for the game on PC. This updated version will sport achievements, cloud saves, and something called a “character booster” that will let players increase HP, MP, and Gil by making one single click. This is much different than the 1998 version of the game that first went to PC.

The domain has been searched and it’s legitimately owned by Square Enix. It’s even registered under Yoichi Wada’s name, who just so happens to be the company’s CEO. There aren’t any details (as you’d expect), but prices have been slapped on the page at £7.99 / €9.99 (right around $12.50).

If this updated PC version hits the market, I’m really excited to see how it looks. I’ve always wanted to give the game a shot on PC, and I already own it as its downloadable version on the PS3. Final Fantasy VII is a big title and holds a lot of meaning to a lot of gamers. I really wish Square would just hop off their horse and push out a full HD remake of the game on their current console. But, judging by the way the market’s been lately we’ll see some sort of Vita re-release before anything else. Still, if this is a legit PC re-release of the game, it could really set off some sparks.
