ZombiU Game Footage Shown at E3 [E3 2012]

One of the big games announced by Ubisoft at E3 has been the Wii U exclusive zombie survival horror game ZombiU. While they showed a cool trailer of the game in their press conference Monday night, not too many details were released, and we didn’t see any game footage. In all, we didn’t quite know what to make of game.

Nintendo answered that question, as they showed some gameplay footage of ZombiU in their press conference Tuesday morning. The clip isn’t long, but it shows you exactly what the Wii U gamepad is capable of. And I gotta admit, it looks pretty cool.

The gamepad is being dubbed the “Survival kit” for ZombiU, and it’s easy to see why. In the gameplay teaser, we see our nameless hero use the gamepad for many different uses, including an inventory screen, a SONAR system, a sniper rifle feature, and even door hacking. What’s perhaps most interest is that as the Wii U controller is showing one thing, you can see your character reacting appropriately on the screen. For example, as you dig through your inventory on the gamepad, your character on the TV screen actually takes his backpack off and starts rummaging through it until your done changing out the items in the gamepad. When you use the scanner to scan different items, zombies can actually come up and inturrupt the scan, as you see both the zombie on the TV screen and an x-ray-like image of the zombie on the Wii U pop up at you at the same time. But don’t just take my word for it, check out the video for yourself!
