It’s Official – Leviathans: Monsters in the Sky Will Launch In August [Gen Con 2012]

I’ve been sitting back, twiddling my thumbs for over a year now. Catalyst Game Labs has been working hard to produce one of their newest, most intriguing tabletop games, and many fans have been waiting for their chance to finally get their copy and sit down to play. The game I’m talking about is none other than Leviathans: Monsters in the Sky. Last year I wrote about my first impressions of the game, and I was instantly interested in trying it out. At the Origins Game Fair event that was held earlier this year Catalyst had full starter copies of the game ready to pass out to paying players, but it wasn’t an official release of the game. Now the company has finally announced that Leviathans will officially see a lunch this August during Gen Con 2012!

Catalyst will be set up and have their booth in full-swing during this year’s Gen Con event and they’re saying they’ll have copies of the game ready to go for purchasing players. There won’t be an unlimited number of copies, but the team is working to make sure there will be enough to meet player demands. They want to make mention, however, that it will be a first-come first-serve basis, so you don’t want to stand around for too long before heading to get your own copy.

There isn’t an official street date for the game yet, because Catalyst doesn’t want to make an official announcement until the game is safe in their warehouse. They are saying, though, that the Core Box Set should be ready to go by the end of August. Catalyst will have Fleet Boxes for both the British and French at the event, but they’ll be even more limited than the Core Box Sets that they’ll have on-hand. They’re also planning on having pins, patches, and plenty of other Leviathans geek paraphernalia to offer up to fans.

In case you don’t know, Leviathans: Monsters in the Sky is a tabletop miniatures game where players control different naval fleets from different countries around the world. It’s set in an alternate history where we’ve made use of steam-powered engines to make our large ships fly and participate in epic battles in the sky.

I’ve been waiting for this for a long while and the time has finally come. We’ll be able to take to the skies and wage epic steampunk naval battles once Gen Con 2012 hits this year! Don’t miss it!
