There have been a lot of bad games based on movies (yeah, I’m looking at you G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra). Usually these are uninspired and rushed to launch around the same time the film hits theaters. However, it’s not very often you see a game based on a movie that came out more than 45 years ago. So what classic film would warrant its own video game adaptation in this day and age? MANOS: The Hands of Fate.
If you’ve never seen this movie, you’re not missing out on much. In fact, do yourself a favor, and never watch it. If you insist on doing it, then I suggest watching the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version. You’ll thank me later. You’ll also wonder why on earth anyone would make this into a game. I’m convinced that the only answer is that the people at Freakzone Games are crazy.
The game takes the plot of the movie and expands greatly upon it. No, there wasn’t an evil haunted fireplace that you had to defeat in the movie, but there was a really creepy and unnecessary shot of one. The story looks like it will loosely be the same, but again, it will be modified to fit into the retro NES-style game. The game is due to launch on iOS on July 26th.
