In the Star Wars universe, there are a few games that really stand out. Jedi Academy, Knights of the Old Republic, and of course, Battlefront. JA pretty much wrapped up the Jedi Knight series, and KotOR was essentially followed up by The Old Republic. However, we’ve all been hoping for a third installment of Battlefront, and we’ve all constantly been disappointed.
We do know that the game was in development by Free Radical Design for two years, though they eventually lost the rights. After that, it’s hard to say what happened to it, or if it was worked on at all. But for those that have looked around, it’s not hard to find some of the pre-alpha footage of the game around the web. But today, we have a lot of never-before-seen footage from the Free Radical Design days.
Thanks to the guys at Past to Present Online, we’ve got nearly an hour of gameplay to look at. There are obviously a lot of bugs and crashing, but that’s to be expected with such early work. What’s really sad is that you can see some real potential for the game, which will never see the light of day.
