Planetside 2 Beta Coming “Within the Next Month”

Planetside 2’s Executive Producer Josh Hackney informed us that the game’s beta testing will be starting “within the next month.” The announcement came via Sony Online Entertainment’s new dev diary series they call Command Center. Right now the systems test is supposedly going on, which is the main precursor to the beta event.

The Planetside 2 beta will be first available to the “hardcore players” of the original game. The development team wants feedback from veteran players who are used to the mechanics and tools provided in the game. Those who have received special keys will be allowed in as well, as they will have “special status.” The rest of the players who applied for beta keys will get in as well, though it will be a staggered event.

I’m looking forward to the beta and I’ve more than a few friends who are gearing up for it as well. Planetside 2 is a MMOFPS set in a science fiction setting. Three factions are fighting for control over limited resources. Each faction has their own motivation for their struggle and battles will take place over days, and up to weeks. As more releases on the beta progress, we’ll be updating.

Here is to waiting to see if I get in the first wave. Played for years and even BETA tested the original. Fingers crossed as I have been waiting on this update for a long time. PS was such a good game but poorly marketed.
