Privateer Press is best known for their work on the Warmachine and Hordes miniature games. They’ve found a way to monetize the miniature market in a way that allows players to enjoy the game without the necessity to spend outrageous amounts on minis and sets. As an aspiring minis player, I was blown away with some of the minis prices that I’ve seen throughout the industry. When I stumbled upon Warmachine I was pleasantly surprised.
Warmachine is a tabletop in which players create armies to do battle against one another. As a player, you’re essentially a warcaster who commands different battalions to victory. Privateer Press supplies the models, but players will collect, assemble, and paint them to their liking. Each army is customizable and makes gameplay different each time you do battle. A lot of players compare Warmachine to Warhammer 40k, but with this game you get a lot more for your money.
The newest release for the game is entitled the Colossals set, and Privateer Press has released three new previews from the set. They are:
General Ossrum for the Mercs
The Devestator/Demolisher/Spriggan Kit
The Hyperian colossal for Retribution
These previews come just in time for Gen Con, where Privateer Press will be holding plenty of events. This year they’ve got plenty of tournaments lined up for players to participate in and walk away with glory. Here’s a listing of events that players can take part in at the convention:
