The next expansion for the World of Warcraft MMO, titled Mists of Pandaria, will launch this September according to Blizzard. The developer confirmed today that players will be able to jump into the world of Pandaria starting on September 25th. This is the fourth expansion for the game, and as some rumors have put it, the second to the last.
Mists of Pandaria will add a lot of new features to the already large MMO. There will be a new level cap which has been raised to 90, an all-new pet battle system, a new monk class, the ability to play the Pandaren race, and skill trees and talents have been overhauled. There are pros and cons to each of the features, but all in all Blizzard is trying to cater the game to new players coming in. The only real issue is that existing players already have a problem with the game’s content, and the new changes haven’t piqued any of their interest.
You can pick up the new expansion when it launches for $39.99, which is the standard price for both digital and physical copies of the game. On top of the Standard Edition, as always, you’ll be able to grab a Collector’s and Digital Deluxe Editions as well. These will cost $59.99 and $79.99 respectively, though players who purchase the basic version of the expansion will have the option to pay $20 to get the digital deluxe extras.
The Digital Deluxe set comes with an Imperial Quilen flying mount and a Lucky Quilen Cub pet, Starcraft 2 portraits for Battle.net, and a Pandaria-themed banner and sigil for Diablo III. The Collector’s Edition will include a behind-the-scenes DVD, a full 208-page art book, a soundtrack CD, and a mouse pad featuring Chen Stormstout, the legendary Pandaren Brewmaster. Both the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions are up for pre-order on the game’s official website, and the new content will be delivered to all pre-purchasers before the expansion’s release. It will then unlock the moment the expansion goes live.
