Chris Roberts, Creator Of Wing Commander Is Making A New Game

In my opinion there are not enough games set in space. Sure, you might have a game that has a character in space, but most of the time you’re controlling them in a ship or a space station or an asteroid or something. What I mean is that there are not enough games that have you flying through space, shooting down pirates and having to deal with the fact that there’s only a thin metal shell that separates you from the void.

Luckily for me, however, it looks like my wish is about to be fulfilled, as the man who created the Wing Commander series Chris Roberts has created a new website teasing that he’s been busy at work on a new project. It’s been over ten years since his last game Starlancer was released, citing that the reason why he left the video game industry was because of frustration he had with the limits of technology at the time. It appears that now the technology has finally progressed enough to a point that Mr. Roberts can finally create the game he’s been dreaming of.

At this point in time, there is no date, nor even a title for the project, though it does appear that he’s named the development team Roberts Space Industries. At his website, however, he did list that at 10 AM on October the 10th (that’s 10 AM on 10/10) he will be giving the full announcement on his new game. Overall I’m getting pretty excited about all this! Now I just need to find a new joystick…
