Sony made a rather unsurprising announcement at the Tokyo Game Show yesterday confirming oft-repeated rumors of a new, even slimmer version of the PS3 would be released in November. Unconfirmed reports quote the representative insisting huffily that it wasn’t the size that mattered, but how you use it. (Not really.)
The console will be 20 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than the current Slim model on the market. The Super Slim also has gotten rid of the traditional PS3 disk feeder and has opted for a disk tray–an oldie, but a goodie. Only two USB ports decorate the front of this console.
Two versions of the console will be released, the first being a 250GB console bundle coming out on September 25th. The bundle will include Uncharted 3 and DLC for the game Dust 514. The second bundle will be released October 30th, and will feature a 500GB console packed alongside a shiny new copy of Assassin’s Creed 3. No non-bundle versions of the console have been announced, presumably to give customers a reason to buy a third incarnation of their console.
