Ace Attorney 5 Getting Full Voice Acting

Oh Ace Attorney, how I love you and your quirky sound effects! Everybody I’m sure is familiar with its “OBJECTION!” and “TAKE THAT!”, but what some people may not know is that the Ace Attorney series was not fully voice acted. That’s all about to change, folks!

According to an interview conducted by Nintendo Dream magazine Ace Attorney 5 will getting full voice acting. It has to do with the fact that porting sounds from the DS games (like “OBJECTION!”) would end up being difficult due to the fact that the 3DS has surround sound capabilities. The old sounds would just end up sounding weird on the new system.

Of course, this might end up having some repercussions on an American release. After all, we’re not just talking about changing the text from Japanese to English, but rather they’ll have to go and hire a whole second set of voice actors for the English version. I also have to wonder about if the game will suffer from storage issues since audio tends to take up more space than text in a game, and they won’t be able to just reuse the same audio over and over again. Will Ace Attorney 5 be a shorter game than its predecessors because of it? I hope not!
