Nearly two months ago we found out exactly what was going to come with the different Wii U sets. With the Deluxe set Nintendo had stated that they were going to have a program in place where for every digital purchase they made they would earn points back. Until this time, however, we didn’t know what exactly that would entail.
Well, now we do have some details, and it’s pretty simple really. Basically, for everything digital that you buy you’ll earn points that are equivalent to 10% of the purchase price. So, a $59.99 game will net you 599 points. Every time you make a digital purchase (either through the eShop store or though select retailers) you’ll get a code that you enter into a website that will keep track of how many points you’ve earned so far. Then, whenever you get 500 points you can redeem them for a $5 credit that can be used in the eShop for either the Wii U or the 3DS.
The promotion will only apply to Deluxe consoles purchased between November 18th, 2012 (the consoles release date) and December 31st, 2014. The codes you use to reclaim your points must be received by Nintendo by June 30th, 2015. Keep in mind, however, that the website to enter in those codes won’t be up until sometime this December, so if you make a lot of purchases from day one of the Wii U’s release you’ll have a lot of codes to enter into the system when it’s finally live.
