Skyrim Patch Notes Hint At New DLC, Rumors Of Returning To Morrowind

Bethesda has released patch 1.8 for Skyrim on the PC, and fans have already riled through its file contents. Through their perilous search they’ve uncovered some information that hints at future DLC for the game. Based on what was uncovered, some even think the next DLC could see us traveling back to Morrowind, the third game in the Elder Scrolls series.

One of the lines in the uncovered files points toward a return to Solstheim, a Nord colony that was seen in the second expansion to Morrowind, Bloodmoon. There are other clues pointing to the possibility of dragon riding, and there are other littered clues to more locations around the Solstheim area. Further into the notes there’s some information that suggests the new DLC will be entitled “Dragonborn,” which the developers trademarked back in May. Whether this is an actual return to the third game or not remains speculation at this time.

Skyrim has already seen two DLC packs this year, those being Dawnguard and Hearthfire. PS3 owners have regrettably had to sit as the DLC has released for both the PC and Xbox 360 way ahead of their console. Bethesda has decided not to comment on the matter, so the information may have struck an actual vein. We’ll have to wait and see what comes of the mining, however, so that’s what we’ll do for now. I don’t necessarily think this DLC will be returning to Morrowind, though I do believe that Bethesda needs to focus on making their current DLC work for each platform before spinning out new content. This, of course, is still just a rumor for now though.

Dragonborn could have just as easily been a trademark because of its importance in the basegame. It’s one of the most heavily used terms, and The game itself evolves around the “dragonborn” character.
