Bungie’s Destiny Coming To PS3 and Xbox 360 And Other Consoles, No PC As Of Yet

If you’re somebody who’s looking forward to Bungie’s new shooter Destiny and you’d rather play your FPS’s on the PC, you might be a bit screwed. In an interview with Destructoid, Jason Jones of Bungie said “We made (Halo) run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays the shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to.”

In other words, consoles are the wave of the future, while the PC is obsolete, at least according to Mr. Jones. And to me, that’s a bit disappointing, if only for the fact that myself and many other games prefer the level of control that a mouse-and-keyboard combo gives compared to a controller. And besides, it isn’t like Destiny is another Halo or CoD clone: it’s more of an MMO-type of game, instead.

The game will be coming out for the PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as “future generation technology”. However, not everybody at Bungie agrees with Mr. Jones’ assessment that the PC is dead for FPS’s. According to Bungie COO Pete Persons, “We would absolutely love to be on the PC. If you talk to the people upstairs, we play it on all platforms. So, stay tuned.” While Mr. Jones may be adamant that there’s not enough money in the PC to justify putting the game on there, it seems to me that that’s not what the accountants are saying. And quite frankly, that’s a good thing.
