PS4 Controller Leaked [Rumor]

Three weeks ago we wrote a story about the fact that there were rumors going around that the basic PlayStation controller we’ve all come to know and love, the DualShock as we know it is on its way out. It was noted that its replacement would likely contain a touchscreen of some kind, as well as possibly some biometric sensors. Well, a picture was leaked out of what appears to be such a controller, plugged into what I would guess to be a devkit for the next console.

The photo, which was first posted on Destructoid, shows a controller that resembles the DualShock design, though with some major differences. According to Kotaku the touchpad in the middle of the controller is very similar to the one on the back of the Vita. There also appears to be a speaker just under the touchpad, as well as a glowing bar at the top. Though its purpose is currently unknown, it’s being speculated that the controller has some sort of PlayStation Move capability.

Of course, while it seems pretty certain that this real, according to sources close to IGN the controller is an early prototype. But, with that being said, it’s not like we’re going to have to wait very long to know what the next controller will look like and what it’ll be capable of. Next Wednesday, on the 20th, Sony will be holding an event where it’s pretty likely that the next PlayStation will be announced.
