Black Ops II DLC Officially Announced

The other day we reported on how the nextBlack Ops 2 DLC was leaked over the weekend. It is now confirmed that what was shown on that placard is indeed true. The DLC is entitled “Uprising”, and will be available for the Xbox 360 on April 16th and for the PC/PS3 at a later date.

The DLC features 4 different maps: Magma, Encore, Vertigo, and Studio. The first three maps are all new, with Magma being set in a modern Japanese village beset by volcanic eruptions, Encore taking place in an abandoned London music festival, and Vertigo taking place in a in a high-tech high-rise in India. Fans of the original Black Ops will recognize Studio, as it’s a remake of the map Firing Range.

The other big addition with Uprising is the new Mob of the Dead zombie mode. In Mob of the Dead, you play as one of four gangsters (Billy Handsome, Al “The Weasel” Arlington, Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca, and Michael “Finn” O’Leary) who are trapped in Alcatraz when the living dead rise from the graves. In Mob of the Dead, if you become a victim of the zombies you’ll enter “Purgatory”, and you’ll be sent into the afterlife. Not much is known as to what that entails, though it wouldn’t surprise me if it means you become one of the walking dead.
