SimCity For Mac Owners Report Serious Issues At Launch

If I said that the launch of SimCity back in spring was a bit rocky, that would probably be the understatement of the year. Even if you overlook the fact that EA and Maxis lied about the reason why the game needed a constant internet connection, there were thousands of people who experienced a variety of issues for months after the game’s launch. Now that 5 months have passed, it was time for the Mac users to get their hands on the game. Does anyone want to guess how that launch went?

If you saw all of the issues with the PC launch, and decided to buy the Mac version on day one, I really can’t say that I feel bad for you. There are already a hefty amount of people reporting various issues with the Mac version on the game, regardless of how new their machines are. One of the biggest complaints seems to be with getting Origin to install and work properly. Maxis has released the following statement regarding the launch:

“There are a small number of players who have encountered issues with SimCity for Mac. Our live team is working individually with our players to resolve their issues and get them into the game as quickly as possible.”

At this point, it’s really hard to say how bad the damage is, because as we all know, upset customers are going to make a lot more noise than satisfied ones. And in this case, plenty of people are already sore over the Windows launch, so really, EA and Maxis had their work cut out for them to begin with. If you’ve been on the fence about picking this up, I highly recommend holding off for a bit, and seeing if they can get all of the bugs ironed out. Of course, while we’re talking about recommendations, I’d probably recommend buying a different game altogether, but that’s just me.
