Streaming your PS4 experience via Twitch is, for the most part, a really cool feature for the system to have. After all, it gives people the chance to show off their skills in a game, and lets people share in the experience with the gamer. Unfortunately, Twitch can be used by folks who would abuse the privilege of streaming their “gameplay”, becoming less exhibitors of a game and more exhibitionists.
That was the sad reality that’s popped up on the PS4’s built-in PS Camera demo game Playroom, as some folks were using the “gameplay” for lewd and unsavory purposes. For instance, a man stripped his passed out wife’s clothes off, and showed it off using a stream of Playroom for the whole world to see. It’s incidents like that have given Twitch the reason to take Playroom off of their directory for people to find.
In a statement they gave to Joystiq, Twitch said “”We removed Playroom content from the directory because a majority of it was non-gaming related. We will look into adding it back as PS4 owners become more familiar with the games-only focus of Twitch content. In the meantime, you can view all of the amazing gameplay from PS4 broadcasters in this directory page on Twitch.” Unfortunately, for a game that is essentially a glorified webcam it just might not see the light of Twitch again.
