A small indie team has been working on a new game called Hawken, and it looks pretty amazing. It’s going to be a FPS multiplayer mech title, and will place you in the cockpit of your very own mech suit. They have been working on this game for quite some time, and have been building up quite a lot of hype.

Adhesive Games, the studio creating this beauty, has finally announced a release date. You can expect the finished version on December 12, 2012. If you weren’t already salivating over the beauty and destruction, then you’ll be happy to know that it’s also a free-to-play game.

It seems that more and more games are starting to go that route. Having a price tag would not stop me from helping them continue to do what they’re doing, but I am definitely happy with a free-to-play too. You can sign up for the beta on the Hawken website here.

Sometimes you wonder why a game was created. Although I do enjoy the stupid hilarity of Family Guy, I can’t exactly see why Family Guy Online came into existence. However, it does actually look like fun, and is going to be Free-To-Play.

This browser-based RPG is going to feature all of your favorite characters and locations from the show, while also giving you a character creator. The Griffins will be NPCs that will give you quests and challenges that will probably send you into some interesting situations. You will be rewarded with clips from the show, and points that will go towards upgrades and items. The map you’ll be playing on will be somewhat realistic, as there is no actual map of Quahog in existence at the present.

It seems that even though it carries core mechanics from other successful RPGs, this game is going to be more for comedy than heroic deeds. As the actual show progresses, new DLC will crop up to keep things current for both show stories and real life events. Family Guy Online is doing a closed beta at the moment, but will hopefully have an open beta in the coming months.

If you’ve been patiently waiting for your chance to try the Diablo III beta, now is the time to check your inbox. Blizzard has just rolled out 100,000 more beta invites to players who showed their interest in the game. These invites were, as always, sent out through email, so that’s where you need to be checking.

The email also warns players to be weary of any phishing scams that are taking place right now. These types of things happen a lot, and Blizzard wants to ensure players that whenever they are contacted from the company, there will always be some sort of call sign attached. These emails, however, seem legitimate so there’s nothing to worry about.

If you managed to slip through the company’s fingers somehow, don’t worry. There will be more beta invite rounds to come. You just need to be patient, and just try not to cry. Even if they are manly tears.

It seems that the recent closed beta test for Guild Wars 2 was a success. Mike O’Brien, President and Founder of development for ArenaNet posted on their blog yesterday, stating that there would be progressively larger beta testing events throughout the coming months. However, if you’re not a member of the press, you’ll have to wait until March or April to get in on the action.

Guild Wars 2 is going to bring you a whole new way to quest, and give you a lot more cooperative play with other gamers. It’s looking as though there won’t be a monthly subscription fee, which is great for those of us who are addicted to The Old Republic and WoW. Everyone seemed to speculate that the game would be out this year, and right they were! However, even if it is confirmed that the game will be coming out this year, we don’t know which quarter. Although, with the beta events being in the spring, I would say fall for polishing up the game, and a winter launch. Sounds lovely doesn’t it?

When a new game is in development, fans usually do whatever they can to obtain a beta key, so that they can play it before everyone else. However, Bethesda doesn’t think that full games are the only things that deserve a beta. For their latest Skyrim patch, they are giving PC users the opportunity to beta test it.

This may seem like an odd approach, but after a bad case of dragons flying in reverse, they want to make sure that this release goes as smoothly as possible. So how do you get your hands on the latest patch? All you need to do is opt into the beta by going into your Account settings and changing your beta preferences. Once you’ve done this, Steam will restart, and Skyrim will be updated to the latest patch. You can later opt-out, and the game will be returned to its current state. This is an interesting approach to releasing game patches, and I think that there’s a good chance that we will be seeing this from other companies in the future. It looks like Valve has gone the extra mile in making such a feature available to developers, so we can only hope that it will get utilized.

If you’re an avid MMO player, then there’s one upcoming title that you have to know about. The game is called TERA (The Exiled Realm of Arborea), and it’s in its beta stage right now. Open beta signups are rolling out right now, and this is something you don’t want to miss out on.

TERA is being developed by European studio Frogster, and it looks amazing. The game features real-time combat, extensive world discovery, and a unique art style that is hard to turn away from. This is no doubt a game that MMO fans have been looking to get into for quite some time.

If you are an avid player of Rift, then chances are you want to spend every waking moment integrating yourself into some aspect of the game. While we know that there are responsibilities outside of the gaming world, it doesn’t mean we can’t have it with us when we’re on the go.

The beta version of the Trion Worlds Rift mobile app is currently available for download for iOS devices through the app store. It will be available for Android users too, but they’ll have to wait until later this month to get their hands on it.

The full version will have its launch sometime during Q1, and will allow you to use the real-time chat, and give zone event alerts so you don’t miss anything while you’re out and about. Not to mention this app carries some fun games like Planar Invasion, Crafty Critters, and Shinies that will give you in-game loot, crafting materials, and artifacts. It’s a free app, so maybe it’s worth a download?

The Gotham City Impostors PC beta has come and gone as of the end of November, but both sides of the fight are far from finished. Now that PC players have been given the chance to check out the game, Warner Brothers Interactive and Monolith are ready to give console gamers their turn to tear up Gotham for their respective hero or villain.

The Batz and Jokerz are still gearing up for battle, and this time they’ll be doing it through controllers instead of a mouse and keyboard. The beta comes in the form of team deathmatch modes that have players competing in a six-on-six match as either the Batz or Jokerz themselves. You’ll either have to defend a battery and move it to spread propaganda, or you’ll need to destroy the enemy team before they do.

You can sign up for the beta on the game’s official site, and you should while applications are still being accepted. The slots are limited, and the developer wants to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. It’s the best way to get all the kinks worked out in time before the game’s final crunch takes place. The PC beta was a blast, and you won’t want to miss out on this chance.

There have been plenty of strategy games out there that see players as mighty kings that control vast armies as they take down all enemies who oppose them. Others see players as tough heroes with masterful mages by their side. The one thing you don’t see in these types of games is a mage taking up the front of battle, leading minions of his own to clash against opposing steel. With Warlock: Master of the Arcane, all of this changes.

In Warlock: MotA, players take the role of a supreme mage as they build empires that will seek to control power across all the lands of Ardania. Players will control cities, build units, and fight for the control of vast amounts of wealth. With this game, it’s a new experience to be playing a mage with all of the power instead of some king or knight. Here’s what the game will bring you:

• Research and master dozens of spells, conjure strong enchantments and discover powerful spell combos
• Command a variety of units, each with their own special abilities, across three races along with the ability to summon wild creatures
• Achieve victory by military or magical means

A closed beta has been announced for the game by its developers, Paradox Interactive and Ino-co Plus. To sign up for the beta, players can head to the events signup page. As far as strategy titles go, this one is shaping up to be a lot of fun. Warlock: Master of the Arcane will be debuting on the PC during the second quarter of next year. Be sure to sign up for the beta to check it out early, as beta sign ups are good from now through December 14th.

Gotham City Impostors, the first-person shooter developed by Monolith Productions, now has a release date. Players will be able to officially play the game when it launches on January 10th of next year. It will be available for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. Added to this release date announcement was also an announcement for a scheduled open beta. The beta will start in December.

Gotham City Impostors acts as a Team Fortress 2 type shooter, where players choose sides, either taking up the side of the Dark Knight, or that of the Joker horde. Each side will have their choice of classes, whether they be the quick scout-like class, or the hulking brute class. Copies of Batman: Arkham City came with beta codes, which will allow players to jump in on the open beta when it rolls out in December.
