Ben Heck Creates Another Awesome Xbox 360 Portable

By Feigned, Thursday, December 4th, 2008

There are times when I’m on the road, and neither my iPhone or my DS can really satisfy my gaming needs. Thankfully I picked up one of the new MacBook Pro’s not long ago, and can get a pretty decent gaming experience on there if needed. However, if I’m up for some Rock Band, or anything else that requires my 360, I’m pretty much out of luck. I mean who really wants to go through all of the hassle of unplugging it from their TV, loading up all of the cables (and that massive power brick), just for a bit of fun on the road? Well if your name is Ben Heck, you don’t bother with trivial things like that. You just fashion yourself an Xbox 360 laptop.

While this isn’t the first Xbox 360 laptop to see the light of day (if I’m not mistaken, this is Ben’s 3rd go at it), its certainly the best-looking one yet. It’s got everything that you need to play, including an LCD screen, speakers, wi-fi card, Vision camera,  dual memory card slots and a removable hard drive. While  it does greatly resemble a laptop, it’s quite heavy. I believe the exact weight is “almost as much as my sister’s cat”. He does his best to solve the heat issue with lots and lots of ventilation, which will hopefully prevent the seemingly inevitable RRoD. So how do you get your hands on one? You don’t. This was a special commissioned piece, which is not up for sale.

  • Battlestar Galactica PC Is The Best Case Mod I’ve Ever Seen

By Feigned, Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

A lot of people decide to make modifications to their PC case, and they turn out alright. Other people decide to go all-out, and you’re left with a creation that can only be described as “pure awesome”. This Battlestar Galactica PC mod falls into the latter category.

This machine has just about everything you could imagine, right down to functioning runway lights. You’ll find 3 2.5-inch LCD screens, and a nice 10-inch LCD screen on the side, just in case you’ve forgotten a full-sized one. Even more impressive is the slot-loading optical drive hidden behind the Battlestar Galactica medallion. I can’t even imagine the sort of time and effort it took to put this together. Kudos to Boddaker, the mastermind behind this incredible project.
