While that’s all fine and dandy, this particular piece of hardware may not always do what you want it to. You may not have fast enough DPI to your liking, dust can get in the way of the sensor, and it may just be uncomfortable to use.

What if there were a way to control what was on the screen in a whole new way that wouldn’t cramp your hand, and could move as fast as you can? I’m not talking about touchscreen here, as that still requires you to impact something (poking the screen is like clicking a mouse). The LEAP Motion is about the size of a flash drive, but you won’t be placing your hand over top of it and moving it around. It gives you 8 cubic feet of interactive space that will read your hands.

Working in tandem with control software, you can reach into your computer and pull out information much in the same way that you would pull a cookie out of a jar. The sensors are 200x more sensitive than most other touch-free products (so says the website) and it can read a swipe from your hand about as precisely as a pen stroke. You can modify it however you’d like, so this is a pretty sweet looking peripheral for only $70 (pre-order only at the moment). This makes me think of the PS Move or the Kinect, but it doesn’t require you to hold anything. Makes you wonder what playing your normal PC games on it would be like doesn’t it?

The Dream Machine

Indie Games

PC Gaming

Steam

Trailers

videos

Do you like horror? You’ll be playing the part of Victor Neff, who has just moved into a new apartment with his wife. The perils you will face will be like nothing else you’ve seen before.

I have to give serious props to this game, as they used traditional media to make this game. Instead of computer generated art, they built the game out of clay and cardboard. Both are serious art forms (not saying that one is greater than the other), but I do carry a fondness for games that step out of the traditional role. Episodes 1-3 are already out, but you can buy the whole bundle for about $17 directly from the site, or for $14.99 on Steam.
Source

VGHS Episode 2 Live, Tosses Up A Virtual Expulsion

Announcements

PC Gaming

PS3

videos

Xbox 360

Freddie Wong, a notable maker of awesome videos on Youtube, has been working hard on his newest project, which has been a webseries. The new series is called Video Game High School and, as you expected, it’s frickin’ sweet. Freddie has been working with Rocket Jump to make the series possible and so far it’s worked out flawlessly.

The series follows a kid by the name of BrianD who is an upcoming competitive gamer. He finds himself called upon by his fellow team mates, though chores pull him from the battle. Escaping back to the warzone BrianD is met with an unfortunate fate. His reflexes kick into action at the last minute and, thinking fast, BrianD pulls out of the peril, all while eliminating the world’s most elite player in the process. The next day he sees an invitation at his door welcoming him to VGHS – a gamer’s heaven on Earth.

The second episode is up now, and you can watch it here. When I first heard of the series premiere I was a bit apprehensive, I’ll admit. After I sat down and watched it, however, I was surprised. Rocket Jump and Freddie have done a great job piecing the series together with the first two episodes and it’s not the cliche I expected. Check out the second episode yourselves and strap in for when the rest of the series releases.

Lavender Town Revived In Metal – A Haunting Melody [Net Loot]

Music

Net Loot

Nintendo

videos

A musician who simply goes by the name of Psycho Crusher on Youtube has done something ghastly. He’s taken the melody of Lavender Town from Pokemon and remixed it into quite the haunting metal tune. He’s laid the eerie high-pitch tune from Lavender Town on top of some metal riffs and beats, creating a song that truly does the game a great service.

I remember my days in Lavender Town. I’d constantly wander back and forth on the outskirts of town purposely avoiding the tower. I knew that my only solace was to complete the trial in the tower to move forward on my quests, but there was something creepy about that town, and the people in it. It was almost like the citizens were under some sort of spell. Everyone was dreary and out of place. Not to mention my pokemon got super spooked whenever I’d summon one. And those ghosts… All those ghosts…

Anyway, Psycho Crusher has made one sick cover, and he’s created a video showing off some crazy artwork to go along with the song. I’ve been listening to it nonstop since I found it. The song reminds me of that whack ROM hack for Pokemon where a ghost gets inserted into your party and things take a turn for the worst. I don’t know if this will put that Marowak spirit to rest in Lavender Town, but I’ll sure raise the horns to it. Afterward everyone was talking about cakes and lies. When they set out to make the sequel, Valve had some pretty high expectations to meet. That’s right, a glorious 6 minute and 43 second video is here to blow your mind.

We already know what happened before this point in the story, and to make a video during or after the game would be too telling, so they picked a different time in history. It seems only right then that they gave us a closer look into a time when the battle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells were at its peak. This is long before the creation of Santuary, when this eternal war had already been going on for millennia.

This is an official production that came from Blizzard teaming up with Titmouse Inc. and director Peter Chung. This game definitely has a day-brightening effect to it, that’s for sure.

As we approach the open beta event date, a good question is what you will be able to fight as. To clear up any questions you might have, Koram games has released a character class introduction video. You might want to decide what you want to play as now, as it will otherwise be a tough choice.

For the Gold Kirin Tribe, you have the choice of a fighter or a shaman, the latter of which is both a healer and a support class. Concerning the Lunar Fox Tribe, you can choose between a sorcerer and an assassin, both of which are quite self-explanatory. Lastly, there is my favorite, the Maned Dragon Tribe which gives you the option of either a warrior or archer class. Take your pick, and be at the ready for this cute free-to-play MMORPG.

Reset Teaser Trailer Takes You On A Journey Through Time

Action Games

Indie Games

videos

For being the very first game for Theory Interactive, Reset is looking to be quite phenomenal. Two of the artists working on this game have previously worked on the FPS Shattered Horizon, if that tells you anything. This game is going to have cycles for day, night, and weather, so you’re going to have to pay attention to your surroundings to know what’s going on.

You are supposed to roam around and explore, so the situations you face in this game can be taken down in non-linear order. According to one of the devs, the trailer was made entirely out of in-game material, and that says quite a bit. The team currently working on this game says, “it’ll be ready when it’s ready.”
Source

A Look Behind The Scenes Of LAN War XXII

Events

videos

A couple of weeks ago we attended IU Gaming’s LAN War XXII.
