Heck, they even got a Creation Kit, and a High-Res Texture Pack. Unfortunately console gamers haven’t even seen the patch that came out at the beginning of the month. However, Bethesda has confirmed that it should be dropping tomorrow.

Both Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers should expect to have the patch available for download tomorrow, though the company did express concern that it may not actually hit the PS3 as scheduled. They’ll be sending out another update as soon as they hear from Sony.

The latest patch takes care of a number of issues, including “long term play optimizations for memoy and performance” on the PS3. Hopefully this will take care of the lag issue when save files get too large on the console. The idea of a game set in Gotham City that doesn’t star The Dark Knight himself seems like a bold move. After all, what’s a Batman-themed game without Batman? Well, the game has finally gone live, along with some DLC.

When I say “some” DLC, I actually mean a shit-ton. If you try and browse the “new” section on your 360, it will be full of Gotham City Impostors stuff. According to the official Xbox Live Marketplace listing, there are currently 105 pieces of downloadable content. Thankfully, it’s all cosmetic, and has no bearing on the game.

What’s really interesting is that while the content costs money, you don’t actually have to pay to unlock it. This can be accomplished simply by playing the game and completing certain tasks. The content on the Marketplace is simply there for those that are too impatient to wait.

Star Wars Kinect Game Bundle Release Date Announced

Announcements

Controllers

Star Wars

Xbox 360

There are a lot of Star Wars fans out there, all in varying degrees. For all of those fans who ever wished they could use the force without a controller in your hands, the time is now. The Star Wars Kinect game will be hitting shelves on April third, alongside some spiffy gear in a limited edition bundle.

There are five modes to explore: Podracing, Rancor Rampage, Duels of Fate, Jedi Destiny: Dark Side Rising, and Galactic Dance Off. You can engage with forces from the Republic, pilot a landspeeder, and dance your pants off all in the same day. It’s about time to put those Jedi skills to the test!

The Xbox 360 Limited Edition “Kinect Star Wars” console bundle is also slated for release on the third and has some promising goodies inside. By that, of course I mean there is an exclusive C-3PO who is unlockable for dance mode. Just be prepared to drop some serious dough, as it will cost you $449.99 for the decked out wireless controller and 320GB console.
Source

Skylanders Giants

3DS

Announcements

PS3

Toys

Trailers

videos

Wii

Xbox 360

Activision made a smart move when they put out Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure last year. It combined both collectible toys and video games, and made you feel important by calling you, “The Portal Master”. There were 32 toys to be collected, and although the starter pack came with three, you needed at least 8 to complete all the missions.

This year’s Toy Fair announced that there would be an expansion for the franchise. Needless to say, you’re going to need to brace your wallets, because 16 new collectible figures are going to be hitting the shelves. Half of these toys will be giants that are two times the size of a regular Skylander.

All of these second wave toys will also lights up when near the Portals of Power, but come connected to a new game. The toys from the first game will still work just fine, but they will be tiny both literally and virtually compared with the Giants. Check out the video below to get a peek of what’s to come.
Source

Get Texts From Mass Effect 3 Characters With The New Datapad App

Announcements

Bioware

iPhone

PC Gaming

PS3

Xbox 360

BioWare has already announced an upcoming iOS game for Mass Effect 3 called Mass Effect: Infiltrator, but this isn’t all that’s coming for fans. Yet another app has been announced by the developer, and this one is a bit different than an actual game.

The new app is called Datapad, and it is more of a social and interactive app. The Datapad app is coming to help fans “stay in touch with all of the info in Mass Effect 3.” Using the app, players can check the status of the ongoing war in the galaxy map, and they will even get test messages from in-game characters.

This is perhaps one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen come for a game, though it’s one many have imagined for a while now. To think that I could get a text from Joker, complaining about the crew on the Normandy? That would be awesome. I’m hoping that they can make some responses to send out if you were to actually reply to their messages too. Now that would be total win.
Source

Calibur 11 Unveils Their New Mass Effect 3 Console Vault

Announcements

PS3

Xbox 360

Calibur 11, the same company that brought us that sweet Gears of War 3 console Vault for the Xbox 360, are back at the work bench again. The novel is Mass Effect: Deception, and it covers a Cerberus assassin as she journeys into the city of Thondu to pick up a rare artifact from an auction. Some of the errors in the novel include “a character ‘growing up’ from being autistic, turning Mass Effect’s only gay male character straight and then killing him, and being literally impossible to reconcile with the timeline made by the games, comics and other books.”

BioWare has released this official statement on the progress of the error corrections: “The teams at Del Rey and BioWare would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the Mass Effect fans for any errors and oversights made in the recent novel Mass Effect: Deception. We are currently working on a number of changes that will appear in future editions of the novel. We would like to thank all Mass Effect fans for their passion and dedication to this ever-growing world, and assure them that we are listening and taking this matter very seriously.”

There is no announcement on when the new editions of the book will release. If you want to keep up with the certain corrections to the novel’s errors, you can find them on the Mass Effect: Deception Wiki page. The fans have spoken, and BioWare is working on making amends.
Source

Brand Now On Xbox Live Arcade

Announcements

Microsoft

XBLA

Xbox 360

Brand is a new indie game that’s finally made its way to the Xbox Live Arcade. This innovative little title is available for just 240 Microsoft Points, which is a great price for the content you’ll pick up. The game is elegant, colorful, and full of action that is reminiscent of the type of indie games that are quite catchy in the eye of the gaming community at the present.

In Brand, it is up to you to take a meager sword and turn it into a weapon worthy of royalty. You’ll choose a character, which we’ve just learned that your own Xbox Avatar can be chosen, and guide them through various quests for the Smith. These quests will grant your sword with powers and abilities, changing it into a very deserving weapon. There are only a set number of abilities you can add to the weapon before it gets put to the test, so this creates a level of strategy that keeps the game interesting.

You can see Brand in its release trailer below. Though the controls look to be a bit laggy, the game still looks to perform adamantly. There is a vivid world to explore, tons of power-ups to obtain, and plenty of enemies upon which to test your new blade. Go ahead and grab Brand now and give it a try.
Source

Alan Wake Has A PC Release Date

Announcements

PC Gaming

Xbox 360

PC gamers from around the world, you can now rest your weary heads. Players can pick up the game on Steam starting February 16th, and it will launch at the price of $29.99.

There will be a Limited Collector’s Edition for $35, just like when the game launched on console. It includes all of the content in the standard edition of the game, as well as the Alan Wake Files Book, developer commentary, and a digital soundtrack.

It’s great to finally have a release date for the game, and PC players now can have something more to look forward to. I do hope that the PC port is a great version of the game, and it should be. The game is set to include DirectX 11 support, and that’s great out of the gate. There’s only about two weeks until the release, so keep a lookout on Steam.
Source

Net Loot: A Skyrim Theme Remix Fit For Kings

Net Loot

PC Gaming

PS3

videos

Xbox 360

Ever since Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the internet has been abuzz with some pretty great media centered around the game. We’ve seen bardic covers of the game’s theme, comics and memes inspired by in-game situations, and even some great props based off of in-game items. When it comes to making the game rock out loud, however, a brand new cover has got it all under control.

Youtube user MatthewPegoli has assembled a party of the mightiest warriors in the rock world. With this team he has helped produce one of the greatest remixes ever to be handed down from legend. He, along with Jamit Gandhi on bass and Paul Attanasio on drums, have brought the force of the Dovahkiin in the form of some epic rock tunes.

This video is sheer brilliance, and it’s got my vote for the best cover out so far for Skyrim. There’s seriously no reason why you shouldn’t be headbanging and watching this right now. Check it out below and get some FUS RO DAH in your system!
MatthewPegoli on Youtube
