I haven’t spent a lot of time playing on the PSP, but when I got my copy of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, I couldn’t resist playing it non-stop until it was finished. During that time I experimented with hooking it up to my HD monitor and gaming that way. While the game didn’t look nearly as crisp on the larger screen (for obvious reasons), I really liked it. I only played it this way a few times, because honestly, it didn’t feel right playing on a portable console and staring at an external screen. I longed for the ability to hook up a PlayStation controller up to it, as that would have made it perfect. As it turns out, you actually will be able to do this with some games.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of technical requirements in order to be able to pull this off. First, you need a model 2000 or 3000 PSP, an AV-output cable, a PS3, a DualShock 3 controller and a copy of Resistance 2 for the PS3. While I was excited about this at first, this seems like a lot of hassle just to add a controller to your PSP. If you happen to have all of the aforementioned goods, then this will be an excellent feature.
