In a survey released by Game Informer 5000 of there readers were surveyed about their consoles.
Not so surprising was the amount that reported getting the red ring of death. A whopping 54.2%. Not so good for ole Microsoft, another bummer for the multi-billion dollar corp. was that only 37.7% thought that customer service was good. One thing that was surprising was that only 3.8% Of Xbox 360 owners say that they will never buy another 360 because of hardware failure.
I have been fortunate enough never to be dealt the red ring of death and as a reformed Play Station fan boy its probably a good thing or I might have gone back to my rantings on terrible load times and shitty controller design as were some ear mark arguments between PS2 and the original Xbox. (I still think the 360 controller needs work but its much better then before)
Play Station and Wii were also reported in the survey. With much better numbers. Only 10.6 percent of PS3 owners reported hardware failure and 51.1% felt that PS3’s customer service was good. Wii was the front runner with only 6.8% owners reporting hardware failure and 56.1% felt that Wii’s customer service was good.
Although Xbox is the relative new kid on the block in console’s, Microsoft is not so new to the electronics industry. I think they need to get their shit straight on this console. I mean these guys were pioneers (or pirates which ever you prefer) of the computer industry during its birth! The very industry that made gaming consoles possible.
