Review – Robot Unicorn Attack: Metal Version (iPhone)

Post Rating

So I saw a commercial for the new Robot Unicorn Attack game for the iPhone, and I just had to check it out, because as many of you know, I am all about the metal. You cannot destroy the metal.

Anyways, this new boot of the run-and-jump platformer is awesome. The scenery reminds me of something I would expect to see in Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse. Skulls, bones, spikes, and blades line your path while you navigate a very much darker unicorn through this perilous nightmare.

In the new version instead of having three wishes, you suffer through three nightmares. The level design is pretty much the same, only it has a new skin which is more pleasing to the metalhead’s eye. Featuring music from the opera metal band, Blind Guardian, the game is much more metal friendly.Even the “boost stars” received a makeover, and they are now very Venom-esque pentagrams.Check out some gameplay here:

For 99 cents the game is a perfect buy. I have noticed, though, that on regular 3G iPhones the game hiccups a bit. Sometimes it stutters a bit when loading up. If you powercycle your phone it should work fine. I find it very hard to get off of this game. Since it is such a deal I urge you to check it out for yourselves.

Let the metal live on!
