Sifting Through The Fictitious History Of Black Ops

Call of Duty: Black Ops is set during a time period in history through which few have traveled. The timeline is littered with some of history’s most famous figures, yet the game takes some liberty with the telling of history itself. Luckily the fact has been pulled from fiction by our friends over at Kotaku.

Black Ops is set during the Cold War, which happens to be a period of time when the tensions between the US and Russia were stretched so thin that a Third World War was almost imminent. The two factions never actually came to violent blows, “proxy” battles were fought all across the world in the name of their country’s ideologies and beliefs. It’s through these struggles that Call of Duty: Black Ops is experienced and set.

Our friends at Kotaku have taken the time to sift through the game’s storyline and separated the fact from fiction. WARNING: this post does contain spoilers. To see the actual fact from fiction you can see the original post here.

I think that the storyline of this entry in the Call of Duty series is, by far, one of the best, if not the best. The characters are more alive, better portrayed, and the game takes players deeper behind the lines of red tape than ever before. What do you guys think about the story? Is it too detailed? Too full of fiction? Or is it just perfect?
