Disabled Gamer Is Heard By Dead Space 2’s Creators

Gareth Garratt has cerebral palsy, and he cannot use his hands to game. He hasn’t let this stop him, though, as he playes his favorite video games using his chin to control the mouse, thus controlling the game. He was excited to be able to play Dead Space 2, but unfortunately he ran into a problem.

After he purchased the game he found out that he was unable to map the “walk forward” command to the mouse, making it impossible for him to play the game. He felt like he had just wasted his money, and decided to let the world know about it.

Steve Papoutsis has heard Garrett’s call, and is becoming the knight in shining armor to tackle the issue head-on. Garrett has gotten together an online petition with over 25,000 signatures amassed to his aid. People want to see customizable controls on all video games. Seeing this, Papoutsis says that a fix is on the way.

“The Dead Space 2 team is aware of the issue that disabled players are having with Dead Space 2 PC. In fact a number of folks on our team are so passionate about getting this fix done that they are currently working hard to allow players to re-map key bindings to the mouse which should help disabled players enjoy the game.”

Way to go Garrett. I hope this gets handled as soon as possible for you.
