Rumor: New 360 Disc Format To Add 1GB To The DVDs?

Yesterday there was word that Microsoft is rolling out a new testing program that uses a new disc format. Testers even get a free copy of Halo: Reach! Now there’s a rumor hitting the net that the new disc format will add 1GB of space to the new Xbox 360 disc.

As of now the standard 360 disc holds about 6.8GB out of a maximum 7.95GB on a standard dual layer DVD. This format has about 1GB dedicated to a DVD-Video section. The new format is rumored to have these numbers shifted around to provide for more game material space on the disc. Of course, this is still just a rumor.
