Next Month We Will Take A First Peek At Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm

It’s looking like Blizzard has plans to show off the single-player campaign for Starcraft II’s new expansion, Heart of the Swarm. The company will be offering a first look at the expansion next month, showing us all exactly where the storyline of the game is headed. The offering will show a small tidbit of the single-player campaign, but will not be showing any of the changes or additions to the multiplayer side of Starcraft II at this point.

The company has announced that they plan to take a much different approach to the first Starcraft II expansion. This approach will focus on Sarah Kerrigan and the Zerg onslaught for the main campaign. We assume that Heart of the Swarm will also include some mechanics that are reminiscent of older RPGs, and we hope to see some new Zerg units on the front.

Even though Blizzard plans to show us some of the new expansion for Starcraft II doesn’t mean that it will be out this year. They are still standing by their early 2012 release timeframe, which makes sense. If you remember, we got a look at Wings of Liberty almost a full year before its actual release.
