Sony has just announced a set of PSP Remaster titles that will be shipped on Blu-ray discs in all of Japan for the PlayStation 3. The games are to start in Japan first, and we assume they will then migrate globally.
These PSP titles will be “customized and developed” specifically for the PS3 system and they are set to include new features like Sixaxis support, add-on content, and some possible 3D support. All game data and files can be transferred back and forth between the PSP and PS3, making it easy for gamers to continue the game’s story no matter where they are.
The first PSP title to receive this makeover will be Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD. Capcom will be producing this glorious title, and according to Sony, “the graphics of the PS3 version, including monsters, fields, equipment, as well as Felyne Comrades, are more gorgeous and vibrant than ever, and will deliver dynamic gameplay when played on the large TV screens.”
No other information has been delivered as of yet, but we’re staying on the topic. As soon as we receive word on North American or European release plans, we will be sure to let everyone know. We do want to put out there, however, that this situation will most likely apply to only top-selling titles, so not many will release. Of course, that’s speculation on our part.
