The Portal 2 Level Creator Is Now Live For PC
Vale has now opened up Portal 2 to the community, via the game’s authoring tools – the very same tools the company uses . By doing this, Valve is allowing Portal 2 players to create their own levels, or test chambers, for other players to overcome. Players will get to create new maps, puzzles, and tests for each other to attempt over and over again.
The Portal 2 Authoring Tools will allow for a great many freedoms to be placed in the hands of players everywhere. Players will have access to level features, character skins, models, music, and effects. Valve is giving players everything they will need in order to create their own fine-tuned levels. Of course the Author Tools are only rolled out for the PC as of right now.
Currently the tools are set for a “pick up and go” sort of attitude, and they won’t be entirely easy to use. We will keep a look out for any possible tutorials that pop up, and remember, if you make your own and want to share it, let us know! Now get to testing!
