Female Version Of Commander Shepard To Have A Larger Role In Mass Effect 3 Marketing

Whenever someone mentions any of the Mass Effect titles, a lot of us instinctively think about the buff beefcake that is plastered everywhere on the marketing screens, photos, and media from the game. While Commander Shepard has struck quite a setting with players across the planet, we’ve seemed to forget that there’s a female version of that same enigmatic character out there. BioWare understands this, and they’re setting out to change it.

David Silverman, Director of Marketing at BioWare, stated on his Twitter page that the company is “working on the look now,” regarding the female version of Shepard. Moving forward, the company plans to put the female version of Shepard in the forefront, adding her to Mass Effect 3’s marketing structure. We were even informed that the Collector’s Edition of Mass Effect 3 would include both Shepard versions on its cover.

I am actually intrigued with the female version of Commander Shepard. The idea of a powerful female as a heroine in this epic story is nice to think about. It’s not that often that we get a role switch, putting the female in the spotlight. When we do, we usually get the over-busty, young and petite female who giggles at every little thing, while shaking her rear for the fanboys. I’m excited to see what EA and BioWare do with upcoming marketing materials, and I think we can all admit, Jennifer Hale is a great voice actor, right?
