Other Ocean Interactive has just announced that Sir Patrick Stewart will be lending his legendary voice to the new Xbox Live and PlayStation Network title, War of the Worlds. The new game is an arcade side-scroller, bringing back the nostalgic gaming experiences from the old days. Stewart will be serving as the game’s narrator.
Patrick Stewart is most known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Srat Trek: The Next Generation as well as Xavier in the X-Men film series, though he was also featured in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
Speaking on the opportunity of narrating for the new War of the Worlds game, Stewart said, “As a young boy, I remember watching the The War of the Worlds so many times I was quoting the lines,” said Stewart. “The alien invasion both terrified and fascinated me and the movie has stuck with me since then. Now, being part of this project will provide a new way for gamers around the world to experience a fresh new take on a classic.”
War of the Worlds is a darker take on the classic H.G. Wells novel, retold as a single-player 2D adventure. The gameplay follows the events from the 1953 movie adaptation, but introduces a brand new storyline, characters, locations, and more. Players will fight to outsmart armies of alien tripods, spiders, and drones as they fight for survival. Players can look for the game to hit Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network later this year.
