More On Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Release Date

When it comes to the release date for BioWare’s highly-anticipated MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, we only know one thing: they’ve only announced that it’s coming this holiday 2011. We’ve been anxiously awaiting word from the developer on when we’ll finally be able to play this expensive MMO, as most of the community are biting their nails with anticipation. Some good news has rolled in, though, which may make the cushion a bit easier.

During a conference call with EA, the company announced something about the release date that is a bit more solid. EA commented saying, “In September, we’ll give a hard ship date.” This has gotten our fingers riddled with lightning.

EA is harboring high hopes for the new MMO, and they’re really trying to market the title intelligently. “Paying consumers can be very sharp,” said EA’s CEO John Riccitiello, “[They have] high expectations of perfect performance, and that’s what we intend to provide at launch.” I am taking this as EA’s way to say “The game isn’t done yet, so just wait. We’re not releasing it until it’s fully complete.” That’s a good thing, right? We’ll be back in September with more, unless news breaks before then.
